Missing art from Art Around the Park

This painting, by Simon Scott, is missing. He believes it was stolen yesterday during the removal of all the paintings from Art Around the Park during the Howl! Festival in Tompkins Square Park. We're told the removal of all the paintings yesterday was chaotic and wet... Friends are helping Simon locate it... any leads?

  1. where was the painting? I saw someone that did not seem to be an artist take a painting from Ave. A between 7/St. Marks. I don't think it was this painting. I called one of the organizers about it when I saw it happening--but never heard anything.

  2. Hi Susan,

Right across the street from the Joe Strummer mural on the side of Niagra. Simon was painting in the "D section", just east of Chico. I'm told his space was D 5

  4. I don't know where the painting is, but around 6pm Sunday, the canvases were down and a lot were crumpled up and left all over the sidewalk. I couldn't believe they were just thrown away like that. There were a couple of park staff tossing them into garbage cans, but anyone could have picked up anything and taken it away. What a shame.
