[Updated] Destination Bar robbed

We just reached out to one of the owners of the bar here on Avenue A and 13th Street for more information.

[Updated] An owner to get back to us this morning... He wants to hold off on releasing any further details for the time being...

    I hate to denigrate the cops, but their response time and professionalism needs improvement.

    Yeah, they should have called 911 to report the robbery. That would have been perfectly acceptable.

    The main phone number for the 9th precinct that are listed on every nyc website IS NOT A WORKING NUMBER. 212-477-7811 does not work. It takes you to voicemail on every press 1, press 2, and nobody listens to those voicemails. And they know it!

    Without my having to look it up can you please explain the difference between being robbed and burglarized?

    I would think that businesses would put their cash in a safe at night. Just knowing that there might be all this cash laying around all these bars makes me wonder why this doesn't happen more often...or does it?

    @Jill, I'm not a lawyer but my basic understanding is that robbery is theft with the threat of violence while burglary is theft after a break-in.

    Like Jill, I'm very surprised that any money would be left in a cash register at night. I know the inner working of several bars and this is something that would not happen. At the end of the night the cash is counted and then put into a safe.
