I haven't seen Michael Huynh's French Vietnamese place on St. Mark's Place open the last few nights... Have you? (I took this photo last evening...)
The eatery opened back in March... they were turned down for a beer-wine license in the spring.... Apparently, it is BYOB here now...

Several Board members looked through the pile of signatures that Huynh brought, noting there were only 29 signatures from residents who lived on that block from Avenue A to First Avenue. Board chair Alexandra Militano scolded an increasingly incredulous-looking Huynh for not doing better community outreach, something that a well-known restaurateur should know.
She said something like, being so well-known can work against you. The Board voted 3-2 to deny the application. A heated discussion among the Board members followed, with McWater, speaking of Huynh's intentions and credentials, saying, "If this guy doesn't pass, no one is."
Go Alex! Close them all.
ReplyDelete@but that's what you wanted said..., People like you won't be happy until the entire neighborhood is abandoned and there are no businesses to pay any taxes to support government services. There are 6,000 fewer cops today than there were 10 years ago and if this mayor is willing to cut Police you know he will cut everything else including sanitation, fire department as well as all social services.

ReplyDeleteBut Alex Militano, self appointed savior to CB3, does NOT agree.
I suggest going to a CB3 meeting and speak on behalf of good operators to help them obtain a license for their space or YOUR CB systematically will deny most if not all liquor licenses.
I think McWaters is fed up with the board. I've heard him say that before too!
Ah, it seems we actually all agree! A miracle! Now if we could just talk some sense into CB3 we'd be getting somewhere.
