Live blogging the 2011 MulchFest!

We'll be coming to you LIVE! all weekend from the MulchFest at Tompkins Square Park...

We're here with 101.9, the official radio sponsor of MulchFest 2011...

There is also a tent featuring Cabot cheese ... and two people in Dunkin Donut tracksuits... (really)

Anyway!

11:15: Someone turns on the music ... (live feed from 101.9?) ... the song marks the official start of the Mulching! And the song?

"Laid" by James. (really)

11:16: Some local officials and other assorted people (mostly all in ear plugs) stand for a photo opp ...

11:16.31: The mulching begins!

  1. That "James" is so effin' annoying, I want to punch him! The way he dances is making me very angry!

  2. Nice try but wrong. The mulcher was first turned on at 9:04, the music began at 10. Yes, that first song was loud enough to drown out NPR's Car Talk which was on at the time. It was turned down after that first song, whatever it was.

Thanks for the comment... I'm sure the mulching started earlier in the day... However, when I was there after 11, the assembled local politicos, such as Susan Stetzer, all posed for a photo... and they made a big ceremony out of it... as if the mulching was just getting under way...
