Animal Crackers busted

The NYPD has busted Animal Crackers, the family-run pet store on Second Street between First Avenue and Avenue A...

There was also an explanatory NYPD sticker noting the store was shut for receiving stolen property ... the sign has since been removed...

Thanks to @Roger_Paw for the tip.

  1. Local homeless fixture Sal (now deceased) once emphatically told me that that pet shop was a front for the PLO.

(He also said that the Subway sandwich shop on St Marks was staffed by members of the Baader-Meinhoff gang...)

  2. A neighbor of mine said the people who run Animal Crackers also run Roger's Garden around the corner (on 1st) which is now getting renovated. If that's true, I'd be curious to see if R's G gets slapped with something too (if affiliated). Hmm.. And thanks for the shout out!

  3. I always wondered about this place. Always had a strange cast of characters hanging around it, and it was open VERY late.

Seemed odd for a pet supply store..
