  1. Looks like some amateur beekeeper lost control of their hive. I love bees and all they do for us, but this is why beekeeping is illegal in densely populated places like NYC.

  3. According to this NY Post article, swarms are common this time of year and happen when a hive becomes overcrowded, the queen leaves and half the bees in the hive follow her. Nice to know these little guys have found a good home already.

  4. this has happened every year and is shown in pictures in the papers and on tv news.
    there is only so much room in a hive and a swarm, with another queen, will look for a new home.
    bees don't flee careless beekeepers.
