Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream gets a sign on Seventh Street

Yesterday, workers were putting up the new Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream sign on the shop's front window. Van Leeuwen opened in late May. People tell us that they like the shop's offerings... though it hasn't been quite as crowded as some people thought... Perhaps the sign will help.

  1. Their ice cream is really great. I'm allergic to everything but I can eat a cone from there with no problems.

  2. Ice cream is OK, but they can lose the attitude and sullen service. My little dish of pistachio was $4.50 and the guy, who never cracked a smile or said thank you, actually returned my 50¢ change in slow-mo, as if I was going, say nah and tip. Why not offer a free cone to the locals on the block. Might buy a bit of good will or good luck, as they're gonna need it. Place is, uh, deserted. Meanwhile, Big Gay Ice Cream will likely be jammed, as they should be, with their friendly and fun attitude. - Andy on 7th Street

  3. Thanks, Andy. I've been in twice. Tried the coffee. Which is fine. Same experience with service. Employee texting when I walked in... made me wait while she finished the text. Classic.
