Fall out boys: Angels & Kings is now hosting Penn State football games this fall

On 11th Street near Avenue A. Never been here, though the place never struck me as a sports bar. Per UrbanDaddy upon the opening in April 2007: "Launched in part as a hangout for the members of Fall Out Boy ... and Gym Class Heroes, Angels and Kings — or AK-47, as the kids are calling it — is your chance to sip a cheap bottle of beer and chat up attractive TRL aficionadas."

Maybe now just change that to ... "and chat up JoePa aficionadas"?

  1. why on earth would anyone market their bar as a hang out for some shitty one hit wonder band.

  2. @randall - Well, if I told you the owner of the bar was a member of said shitty one hit wonder band would that explain it to you?

  3. Well hello, TRL hasn't been cool since, like 2006. JoePa is timeless.

  4. I went there to watch a NBA Finals game because everywhere else was packed. They had it on a large projection screen and played the audio. It was a surprisingly good sports bar.

  5. This is one of the worst bars in the EV, with the worst crowds on weekends.

That said, weeknights are dead and I have had some fun there.

  6. The bar isn't open at the hour on Saturday. It's a way for them to make money from the space. Good for them. Bad for us. We will have to suffer through more dumb, drunks sports fans in the neighborhood.

  7. Angels & Kings sucks as does Fall Out Boy and they always will! Tried to be glam spot with celebs, floozies, cheeseballs and crapped out, now trying to be a lousy sports bar! C'mon! I remember a time when sports was totally uncool in the EV, now Ave A, 1st & 2nd Aves are full of these douche parlors. How about some creativity and imagination which is what the EV used to be all about. When did the EV start to resemble the lousy joints uptown! No originality and full of squares. These squares are not trying to be NYers but bringing suburbia with them to here, go back there please! We dont want you! Go live in your malls outside of NYC. No matter what they do it will be full of douchebags!

Joey Ramone was a huge Yankees fan, Ken Kesey and Jack Kerouac played sports and enjoyed watching them too. I remember when people completely eschewed sports in the EV too but not liking sports doesn't make you any more or less legit. It's just something people used to differentiate themselves from the "jocks" but it's just silly.
