The BMW Guggenheim Lab, broken down and secured

On Saturday, workers started securing the BMW Guggenheim Lab in advance of Hurricane Irene... given its rather temporary build, it seemed as if this thing had the potential to blow over to Houston...

Not so, of course! Dave on 7th took this shot this morning... all snug as a bedbug in an urban lab...

The place is always closed on Mondays and Tuesdays... and reopens on Wednesday with, among other things, a conversation with (or by?) "David Simon on The Wire, Treme, and Capturing Cities on Film."

  2. that'd be interesting to see/hear david simon speak on wednesday, which will be held at BMW sponsored place guggenheim lab.

here is a man who railed about the corporatization of nyc:

"Wall Street money went here in the eighties and the nineties on that great run... and there is no more hell in Alphabet City and Morningside Heights is being gentrified...Manhattan is one big pile of money, and so you guys think you know urban America and you don’t know shit anymore..."

i'd like to hear him say that again and directed to the host and sponsor of this event
