Claim: Like no one seems to have cable

We're getting all sorts of reports of widespread (East Village) Time Warner Cable/Road Runner outage this morning... been out since last night around 11. Which meant we had to create today's posts via our Brother International SX-4000 Portable Daisywheel typewriter with Perfectype professional touch keyboard. Blame this guy?

  1. Called TWC a little after midnight..After waiting more than 40 mins, I was able to get a rep. Expanation for out: "A cable has been severed." When I asked what that meant, I was told there no further info.

  4. Since this morning? Our TWC internet has been continuously out since MONDAY! Can't get through to them, no explanation at all. This is infuriating, I need internet for work!

  8. I'm on 3rd/B...no Time Warner since Tuesday around 3pm....The many (useless) reps said it was a node and in my case affecting 200-300 customers.

  9. TWC internet has been out on E 6th St since Monday afternoon. No information or time estimates provided. They will only offer credit for days disconnected; I certainly will be asking for much more.

  10. 4th and A out since 11pm last night. Half a day's work already lost. Plan to bill TWC for lost wages.

  11. I'm getting rid of TWC. Their customer service is criminally bad.

  12. This is why I stopped being a TWC customer. There was always something going wrong and I always had to fight to get that month's bill prorated. Overpriced and horribly unreliable.

Update: Fiber near Baxter & Grand melted due to fire. New fiber being installed. Expect to see all nodes back online by end of day today.

  15. I have been planning on switching to TWC internet (my Verizon DSL is painfully slow) after two great friends recommended them. If they are as bad as some of you say, who should I go with? I need speed and mucho bandwidth for uploading large files quickly.

  16. How bad was the fire? No cable at 1st Ave & 6th St, but they're also doing work in the street, which I thought could be the problem.

  17. @Jason - Do you have an option besides TWC for internet? I don't. Fios is available for cable only in my building.

  18. It was also out on Stanton Street today. Maybe this is why.
