An NYPD alert on East Third Street

A resident of East Third Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue noted the arrival of these flyers on Saturday...

We saw them for ourselves – taped up along various buildings ... Anyone see these on the adjacent blocks?

Given the block, the burglars are advised to steer clear of 77 E. Third St. Or maybe not.

  1. I saw these. My apartment was broken into August 2nd on the block. They broke in between 1:30 and 6 pm. Pretty sure that it's a resident actually across the street, 2 doors down from the Hell's Angels. They took my computer and my grandmother's engagement ring. I'm glad I have renter's insurance but still fucking sucked.

Been on the block for 4 years. They now have one of those mini-Police cars parked on the street. Don't know how helpful that will be. That said the cops that came when I reported my burglary were really nice.

  2. A friend's apartment on East 5th between 1st and 2nd (yes the block with the 9th precinct) was broken into during the daytime last Wednesday. Gained access from the building roof and through an unlocked window (apparently the window is difficult to lock) that opens out to a fire escape.

They took three laptops and lots of jewelry. Sounds like a very similar situation to the first poster.

Cops were pissed that the burglar hit their block. Also mentioned that an apartment on East 6th (buildings share the same courtyards) was broken into recently.

  3. It was the exact same way of breaking in! They came in through the roof - I'm on the top floor. The cops were pissed when I spoke with them in August - said it was a rash of break-ins all during the afternoon. They had a good idea as to who was behind it at the time but it sounds like the person keeps escaping. Totally the same anon!

  4. This happened on E 4th, between 1st and 2nd about three weeks ago. A thief (most likely) gained access to one rooftop by a front door carelessly left open (by contractors!) and climbed into a neighboring building. This was during the day too!
