July 4 — ruined

On Thursday morning, we noted that the lights on the Tompkins Square Park holiday tree were still illuminated... and we said that we hoped they would stay on until July 4. (For no apparent reason.)

Uh, well, Thursday night — the lights were off. (Sorry — horrible picture.) And they remained off all weekend...

We took a closer look at the tree this weekend... and the lights are still attached ... so it's just a matter of plugging in the cord...

However, the NYPD has the tree under 24-hour watch to prevent this from happening.*

  1. Good use of your Arrowtron 5000 in the past day, Grieve. I was worried you'd use it in every single post, but you've shown restraint and only pulled it out when you need the big guns. Kudos.

  2. Thanks, Spike. I was fortunate enough to have one of the best Arrowtron 5000 instructors at blog school. He preached restraint, and that posts related to trees could always use an arrow or two.

Old man Foster also drilled into our heads to never use arrows with photos of Brawny paper towel displays, dog doodoo, overturned fruit carts and upskirts.
