ReplyDeleteany ideas as to what happened to the previous one(s)?
are these RTHawks banded or tracked somehow?
i like the video, in which you can hear all the other birds harassing the eating RTHawk.
I-)
I was there and the robins and friends were not pleased with the pigeon as a meal.
ReplyDeleteHawks routinely just pass through areas on their way to finding their own territory to claim. Seems no Hawk has claimed TSP for a while.
ReplyDeleteHawks are banded from time to time but first you must trap them (there are harmless ways to do so) and be part of an organization or research center that would care enough to study its habits. Red-tailed Hawks are so common, and their behavior pretty well documented so odds are folks won't need to band and study these hawks.
There are lots of Red-tailed Hawk families being studied all over the city. Sites include:

Beautiful bird. Messy eater!
ReplyDeleteStrangely... for myself, I have not seen a single hawk in any of the parks I frequent, ever since those 3 hawks were found dead a few months ago. Right up until that time, I saw a hawk almost every time I went to a park. Just haven't seen them.
ReplyDeletethanks, R_P!
