Sidewalk's new-look sidewalk cafe

A bit of a sidewalk beautification project here on Avenue A at East Sixth Street... on Friday, Bobby Williams noted the arrival of some flower boxes for the outdoor space...

...and it's a good thing that Sidewalk workers bring them in at night. Have you noticed how people continue to dump the flower boxes at various restaurants, such as here at Numero 28 on Second Avenue?

  1. i used to plant the tree pits in front of our building but got tired of finding empty holes in the morning where "just about to bloom plants" had spent the week getting their feet comfortable.
now i find bottles and garbage but nobody wants to steel the ivy.
flowers are such a small sweet pleasure. too bad we're not allowed to have them.

  2. Not Numero 28's flowers -- they were Arnoldo's place: Pangea. And they were dumped by the drunks next door coming out of a bar. His neighbors got together and got him new plants. We are a family around here and are sickened by this kind of destruction.

  3. Thanks, Annette. Glad to see the neighbors come together and plant new ones.

I've noticed that here a few times here.
