Chubby Mary's now serving you heros on East 14th Street

As previously noted, Led Zeppole, the fried-dessert homage to Coney Island on East 14th Street, closed to give way to something called Chubby Mary's from the Artichoke Pizza team...

[From September]

Today, Eater points us to a Chubby Mary tweet ... noting that the Chubsters opened for business last night...

Not even a Yelp review yet! Let us know if you try it...

  1. Will it be equally as yucky as Artichoke?

  2. To tell you the truth they don't bother me so much anymore. Anything but fine dining. Anything but another wine bar.

Fine dining and wine bars= NOLITA!

That's what what we will have to look forward to in the former Life Cafe space thanks to the two landlords who refused to do the necessary repairs. They pushed Kathy out.

Bob Perl of Tower brokerage is one of the landlords of the former Life cafe space. He has an Empire right here in the EV. You mean to tell me he couldn't come up with a few dollars to do the repairs. I bet that Ninth Street Espresso and the new restaurant Maiden Lane will get the needed repairs.

  3. We ate there tonight. Prices are absurdly low (for now, I'm sure) and the food was CRAZY good. No zeppoli or cannolis tho. Go before the lines start forming....
