What's with all the cabs parked on Avenue A?

That's what a reader asked yesterday after seeing cabs lined up on Avenue A the past few days... EVG regular Creature noted this too with the following three photos...

I didn't see all this myself... and really have no idea. Anyone know?

Updated: Thanks. Answer in the comments.

  1. I live on upper Avenue A, and there's frequently a bunch cabs parked up here. The drivers are making a stop to pray at the mosque on 11th and 1st Ave: http://thevillager.com/villager_211/madinamosqueismuslim.html

  2. Actually a regular daily occurrence. They go to prayers at the mosque on First Avenue and Eleventh St.

  3. Oh, of course... thanks... and a lot of the parking spaces are gone on East 11th and East 12th Streets with the construction at the East Side school...

  6. Most taxi drivers go to the noon prayer; Friday seems to be the busiest day.
