There will be balls: At the annual Mr. Lower East Side Pageant

Reverend Jen hosted the 14th Annual Mr. Lower East Side Pageant last Thursday evening at the Cake Shop on Ludlow Street. Competitions included "best male tits," "congeniality" and "best nutsack."

EV Grieve Facebook friend Walter Wlodarczyk shared some photos, even blocking out the privates where necessary for our family-friendly website ...

Jugger-nut provided the musical entertainment. (Watch a video at the band's Facebook page.)

...and here he is... this year's Mr. Lower East Side — Johnny Bizarre, who, among other acts, hammered a nail into his pee hole.

Slum Goddess has a lot more photos and videos here, which may be NSFW.

And here's a video that the New York Post produced...

If you're chosen Mr LES, do you get a street named after you?

Haha. Sorry, being funny about the "family-friendly" line.

And yes — Johnny was a Mars Bar regular...

  5. Lol regarding the diehipster.com comment.. these guys are all aged, NYC, homeless or nearly homeless, artists who don't even come close to today's definition of a hipster. PS - most of the people left still harping on this old hat convo on hipsters are usually hipsters themselves... guessing this is just another case of the pot calling the kettle a hipster.

  6. Pretty sure this will work as an AntiFolk Revival band name: the pot calling the kettle a hipster.

These men, these LES Princes, are all Kings! What are you guys thinking about calling them hipsters and homeless and artists and pots? You are only hurting Mr. Lower East Side with your chatter!

I propose that next year the Mr. Lower East Side pageant throw its support and love into the Campaign to introduce red pandas in Tompkins Sq. Park.

  7. Who is that woman in the blue and red shirt and orange tights? She's beautiful. I love her neck!

  8. That's Jaqui who had a write up about her on here last week in the out and about section.
Hipsters? Are you joking? Hee! Could not be further from the truth. Johnny sleeps in the park and makes a living doing sideshow stuff for donations. Hipsters are likely terrified or him. And google Mathew Silver please. Hipster? Oh man..
