E. 7th St. penthouse featured in 'architectural magazines the world over' wants $4 million

The penthouse at 128 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue hit the market this week... Guess we didn't really know just how nice it is up there...

Here's the listing from Halstead:

This East Village Penthouse, with spectacular views and an unforgettable roof terrace with 360 degree city views, is the ultimate in luxury living. Three years of painstaking renovation resulted in a remarkable home that has been featured in architectural magazines the world over, as well as in print and media campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and celebrity photo shoots.

Features include a chef's kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, laundry room, dramatic sky-lit staircase leading to a magical roof terrace, central air and top of the line lighting and fixtures. With approximately 1700 sf of interior living space and a full floor private roof deck, no detail has been overlooked in this modern loft living masterpiece.

Make this your sanctuary in the city.

Asking price: $4 million, aka the price hereabouts for "the ultimate in luxury living."

  2. All these high-end places look the same - sterile, hard-edged, about as comfy and inviting as a bed of nails.

  3. Spare and clinical. Not a home. I'd furnish it with my decades-old stuff happily. :)

  4. The "nearby restaurants" list on Halstead's page makes me chuckle.

Roll out of bed and you're just .87 miles to Union Square Cafe!

  6. They left out that for only $4 million dollars you'll be just steps away from Crusty Row, New York's most notorious collection of lovable street urchins living in Tompkins Square Park, with colorful characters who will entertain and amaze as they chase you and your guests down the block for a dollar and then urinate in your doorway. Or maybe that isn't such a strong selling point?

  7. The sparse design is beautiful. I would find that room completely comfortable. Our non-luxury priced apartment is styled similar. It's clutter that makes me uncomfortable...

    Best regards,

  11. All of that painstaking renovation (Sheetrock and white paint?) probably can't keep out the noise of drunken revelers partying on neighboring rooftops.
