Cafe Rakka at 81 St. Mark's Place has been closed these past six or so weeks while undergoing a renovation... their new signage is up... and it shows a name switcheroo — from Cafe Rakka to Rakka Cafe...
Paperwork on file at the CB3 website points to a corporate name change, though there's not much else info... The Avenue B location remains open...

I'll venture to predict that the Avenue B location will either change its name, or will be closing soon.
I kind of prefer the temporary all-wood front look.
How long have they been there? It looks like the old awning said 1982, but the new sign say 1978... Either way, a solid run.
I love this place. I order from it 1-2 times a week: the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, the staff are awesome, and the delivery time is quick.
