The East Fifth St. Tree Committee reveals its policy about carts

By now, some people may know better than to chain a bike to the tree guards on East Fifth Street between Second Avenue and Cooper Square … to be fair, they have no mercy for your cart either.

You've been warned! Bam.

The East Fifth St. Tree Committee is alive and well, and they do not mess around

And now, a word from the East Fifth St. Tree Committee

  1. Since the cart is hand-cuffed to the tree guard, can we assume that stop-and-frisk has finally made its way to the East Village and that handcarts are now being profiled by the police? Or is this just another 50 Shades of Grey-type S&M moment gone horribly wrong? Or is it Bloomberg's new cart-sharing program, CitiCart, for those moments when all those way-too-heavy shopping bags you're schlepping back from Trader Joe's are ripping off both of your arms? The possibilities are endless.

  6. You don't wanna run afoul of the East 5th Street Tree Committee of one, named Jan (Yan). A true tree storm trooper.

  7. "We can't work on the tree pits" Really? There are three other free sides for you to choose from, some body has a little power trip by the looks of it. They whine at the Bikes that are chained up as well.

  8. I'm glad the tree minders have some nerve. That's what it takes to protect the little bits of green that brighten our 'hood.
