One way for your apartment to smell a little bit like Katz's

Courtesy of the Chocolate Egg Cream Candle.

Per the Katz's website:

Transform any room into a delicious blast from the past. These delightful candles are sure to sweeten up your day.

It will cost you $25, though.

We'll echo The Forward here: "When’s the pastrami sandwich candle going to debut?"

  1. Well, as long as they don't make eau de Katz's pickles since that may drive people to move away. Or maybe they should make it.

  2. I'm surprised they didn't do the pastrami candle first; then it would be a lot easier to "Send a pastrami to your boy in the Army"!

  3. Sorry to nit-pick, but Katz's actually encourages patrons to "send a SALAMI to your boy in the Army!"

  5. Hopefully these candles smell nothing like the greasy sludge on the Ludlow sidewalk.

  7. Via Wikipedia:

"During the peak of the Yiddish theater, the restaurant was frequently full of actors, singers and comedians from the many theaters on Second Avenue as well as the National Theater on Houston Street. During World War II, the three sons of the owners were all serving their country in the armed forces, and the family tradition of sending food to their sons became sealed as the company slogan "Send A Salami To Your Boy In The Army".[5] The slogan itself, however, was coined by Louis G. Schwartz of the now defunct Sixth Avenue Deli.[6]"
