ReplyDeleteI've never seen the city streets so filthy. I've also never really seen the snow last for so long, so we've got like 6 weeks of grime being uncovered all at once. I keep looking for money thawing out of the snowbanks like a wooly mammoth.

ReplyDeleteThis may not be the exact right post for this rant, but I'm going to do it anyway: What's up with the community-gardens and the fact that they FREAKING DON'T SHOVEL THE SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF THE GARDENS?!? Yes, some of the gardens will shovel a small path *through* the snow on the sidewalk, but that was all it was - a thin path. Why not the *whole* sidewalk? Don't the community gardens have volunteers? Isn't shoveling being part of the community and part of being a good neighbor? I love the community gardens and think the more of them we have the better, but I seriously don't get the half-hearted shoveling job that goes on.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the city could hop on the good-foot and shovel and not do a half-ass job with shoveling in front of some of the parks (Playground on 12th between A & B I'm looking at you... Literally I'm looking out the window at you right now). Admittedly the city get get on the good-foot about a lot of things, but let's make this a priority especially since you're talking about fining buildings that don't shovel (which is a great idea).
So, in closing, don't eat the yellow snow, don't feed a cold drink to a hot moose, and ladies and gentleman take my advice: pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

ReplyDeleteYou love the parks and community gardens so why not volunteer yourself for shovel duty. I live near a garden and sometimes times shovel a path in front but I could use some help especially do to the many snow falls we've had this winter. So less ranting and more helping the community you love.
