Car on East 4th Street celebrates 84th year of violating alternate-side parking rules
Oh! EVG contributor Derek Berg spotted this 1930 Buick on East Fourth Street last night...
Not sure what might be filming now ... or maybe there's just a 1930 Buick parked here for no good reason. Anyone?

Boardwalk Empire's final season?
ReplyDeleteBTW did the site go wonky for a while there or was in my computer? I'd try to access it and kept getting some weird grey and green page that had nothing to do with EV Grieve...
If cars now looked as cool as this, I wouldn't mind their presence so much.

ReplyDeleteWonky indeed!
The site has been down off and on since early this morning.
Welcome back EV Grieve! I thought you had gone into an early blackout this morning in honor of St. Paddy's Day. glad it was just temporary like everything else in the East Village is these days. That dark brown page with the green links was more scary than last year's SantaCon hangover.
ReplyDeleteI guess Google's delicate Blogger platform crashed due to too many of us making snarky comments about all those bearded metrosexual hipsters in skinny jeans ruining what little is left of the real world. Anyway if you talk to Sergey Brin tell him the difference between that 1930 Buick and the Google platform is that the Buick still works.
I was afraid, EVGrieve, you were gone without a trace. but gee thank goodness for, um, Twitter so I knew you were alive.

ReplyDeleteStrangely enough, the moment I approved your comment the site crashed again.
Fucking Bloomberg!
This Buick was was doubly unique . The oldest other vehicle on the block was the 67, I think, Dodge piloted by the Owl & the Penguin. I'm mad that I couldn't get them both in the same frame, and I don't do photoshop.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that the driver was visiting a resident of the high rise apt bldg next to Phebes. I guess some Wall St Traders have a sense of history, or perhaps, more likely, see it as a good investment.
Btw, a passing French tourist commented that it was a real Al Caponeee car.
@Giovanni, re your Sergey Brin comment:
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!
That's my Buick. I'm not a stock broker. I play with my band every Thursday night at the Red Room, above KGB bar. It's a neat little Art Deco room with great cocktails and food. If you like swinging jazz, come hear us some time.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Michael
