A checkup for the Bendy Tree of Tompkins Square Park
Workers today are tending to the Bendy Tree, the elm next to the the Hare Krishna Tree in the center of Tompkins Square Park ... workers are giving the tree an MRI (???) to check for decay, etc.
Hope that Bendy is OK — it's probably our most favorite tree in the Park.
Hey, you darn kids! Get out of the tree!

Fingers crossed for Bendy Tree. Considering the recent history of bad luck for TSP trees, they all need our love.
ReplyDeleteWill Bendy Tree be starting a Twitter feed?
Bendy Tree needs a couple of posted signs saying "Please Respect This Tree and Stay Off It", or words to that effect.
ReplyDeleteIf the tree is healthy, kids climbing on it won't hurt it. If it's not healthy, kids staying off it won't help it.
ReplyDeleteAssuming it's healthy, they should build a scaffolding-thing to prop it up, the way they do with plane trees I've seen.
