Liquiteria opens today on 4th Avenue
At East 13th Street. The original Liquiteria opened on Second Avenue and East 11th Street in 1996.
Meanwhile, next door, Desi Shack debuts later next week.
It will be the second Manhattan location for the quick-serve Pakistani restaurant.

Fuck Liquiteria. I like healthy foods and juices and what not much as the next guy but something rubs me the wrong way about them. I guess I don't like places that act like they have a patent on healthiness.
ReplyDeleteThe Desi Shack looks like a kind of Pakistani Chipotle which is to say I will probably try it.
Fuck Liquiteria. You want healthy? Eat an apple. Eat an orange. The juice squeezed out of an apple or an orange is no more nutritional than soda. The healthy is the juice and the fiber.
ReplyDeleteGeez their green monster is a delicious smoothie. I agree with Ken its important to not miss the fiber but the grasshopper is a very refreshing. I know there's a new owner but they originated on 2nd ave I think, its not like they're one of the new juice places that have opened starting at $10 a pop...it does bug me you have to buy such a large container.
ReplyDeleteJust can't believe the shit people find to complain about around here.
ReplyDelete"oooh, this juice stand" "ooooh that juice stand"…
Everybody, get a fuckin' life.
You know what anon 12:46, you are right. I have seen the error of my ways. Now on I am only going to make whiny comments re: other people's whiny comments. Not the actual news items themselves. Your way is so much more dignified and substantive. You are doing the Lord's work.
ReplyDeleteAnon 1:52: good one

ReplyDeleteRUBE ALERT! RUBE ALERT!
I agree. Juice is one of the worst things for anyone to have. One might as well drink a cup of simple syrup or a eat a candy bar. I know a nutritionist who has a mantra: fruit, fruit, and fruit. Common sense people. But, in the end, whatever floats your boat or your wallet.
ReplyDeleteUnless you have no teeth, are incapacitated, have temporomandibular joint dysfunction and/or masticatory muscle myositis, then eat real food.

This is just another trend much like that gluten-free diet -- in the guise of a healthier living -- a strange self-conscious status symbol/act of virtue, the same way food trucks, yoga, and bike riding become transformed from something ordinary & necessary to something "special" & morally superior.
ReplyDeleteI was a long time consumer of liquiteria's oatmeal, before the conversion. It was expensive, but good.
But the new owners changed the stuff, and it is way less palatable now. It costs less, but I won't ever have it again. Sorry guys... good luck though.
