Ok, I'll be first: that's a praying mantis. Ya know, the thing where the females eat the males after doin' it.

ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I wanna go. With a smile on my face.
There was one on our roof last week. A beautiful creature.

ReplyDeleteOf course, it comes to visit NYC. And the visit does not come off well. As usual, major traffic issues in the Lincoln Tunnel.
Did you ever see that picture of the praying mantis that speared the humming bird? It's right here It's not fake.
ReplyDeleteSomeone tell me it's not true that they actually sell these at Whole Foods in the produce section.
ReplyDeleteThat's really awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I do want to know what car that is.
(Photographer could probably make a penny selling it to the car co. marketing dept.)
Anonymous 10.56, it's a Mini. You are obviously no gear head.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it's the same one my gf and I rescued a week and a half ago from the corner of 1st and 7th St. It sat patiently on a newspaper while we walked over and into the park, then took off into a tree.
ReplyDeleteMust be an adventurous creature.
nice composition in the second foto - just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteI-)
