Holiday lights make you momentarily forget how horrible the intersection of 14th and 1st is

Hey, alright — the holiday lights are up now along East 14th Street west of First Avenue … getting into the spirit yet?

  2. Thank you CC!

You are the first, though I did already receive some Easter candy

  3. I must say, that although I agree that this is a tad bit early for the lights, I do enjoy the vibe at the end of the month when the Christmas trees set up out in front of O'Hanlon's.

  4. What took them so long? I need my holiday lights to go up before Halloween, ideally—so they can overlap the seasons.

  5. 14th and First is truly a horror show. I have witnessed two fatal pedestrian/car accidents there. And the SE corner of 14th and First Ave is the most depressing corner in the EV. It was not always that way. Not that the other three corners of this intersection are something to write home about either.

  6. Now people can enjoy looking up at the holiday lights while getting mowed down by all the speeding cars and cyclists going the wrong way. Talk about a Holiday Bonus!
