Hand-painted Blockheads signage arrives on 3rd Avenue

As we've been reporting, 60 Third Ave. will be home to a new location of Blockheads, the San Francisco-style Mexican restaurant from the folks who launched Benny's Burritos.

Workers painted the sign yesterday here between East 10th Street and East 11th Street. A rep for Blockheads told us they hope to be open by the end of the month, though that's not definite.

The previous tenant, an outpost of the Jackson Heights-based Unidentified Flying Chickens, closed last month after 11 months in business.

  3. I hope they use Seamless too. Calling them directly is too hard.

  7. Seamless only requires about 2 dozen mouse clicks. Whereas calling often requires dialing 9 numbers AND THEN speaking to a person (who may or may not speak English or get your order right) for at least 30 seconds.

I prefer to cut as much human contact out of my interactions as possible. Hopefully at some point places can just deliver your seamless order with a drone that flies right up to your window, that would be lovely.

  8. I absolutely LOVE Blockheads and I'm glad they're expanding. I recently visited the Murray Hill location on 33rd street (my favorite) and they had some new items - even a mac and cheese app that was soooo yummy! PLEASE put this on your menu Blockheads! I had dreams about about it for 2 days! Welcome to the neighborhood!

  9. Blockheads. Seriously, who thought that was a good name for a restaurant?

  10. I hope the crowd isn't horrible (it will be but I can hope) b/c I like their food and their frozen margaritas with champagne topper. I just got back from the one in Hell Kitchen. *burp

  13. Blockheads was pretty bad at their WFC location. If you're looking for good burritos in the east village, look no further than Downtown Bakery, Tacos Morelos, and Zaragoza.

  14. Who cares! Overpriced, mediocre Mexican food that could never compete with former "Burritoville". Now that was a great place to get burritos and tacos.

  15. Anonymous 7:24 why would you only order from them if they use Seamless? That only means that Seamless is getting a cut. That makes no sense. I know it's slightly more convenient but give me a break. If you like it, order it either way.
