La Lucha has closed on Avenue A

After nearly six years at 147 Avenue A, La Lucha is no longer in business here between East Ninth Street and East 10th Street.

Here's a tweet from yesterday from the taco shop/boutique… which mentions an upcoming move to Brooklyn…

There is also a Marshal's eviction notice on La Lucha's front door.

And there isn't any shortage of tacos these days in the neighborhood… Tacos Moreles opened up around the corner on East Ninth Street in August 2013 … and Empellón al Pastor opened last fall on Avenue A and St. Mark's Place…

  1. Wow, it's been six years for this joint. I miss San Loco.

  2. There's also a new taco place on ST Marks next to La Palampa or whatever their called. They're pretty good! Huge space with a bit of an old school EV vibe. Rather, not glass and corporate.

  4. The guava and tacos here were delicious, especially the hibiscus taco! We were regulars at one point, but stopped going over a year ago after a few meals with horrendous service. It's true that there is more competition than ever before, and the taco situation in the EV has reached a point of mass saturation! We stick to nachos from Taqueria Diana and tacos plus everything else at Zaragoza!

  5. Shame. Nice place. I occasionally eat/ate there. Liked their old wrestler adventure movies they'd show.

(Before someone hops on here to say "if you love it so much why don't you support it? You only have yourself to blame...waaaaah" let me nip that in the bud by saying no one can eat out every night and many of us make our food at home, pack our lunches to work and generally scrimp and save so we can literally keep a roof over our head, 'kay? No business should need to be totally packed every night in order to just get by.)

  9. I absolutely miss San Loco on A. Was it amazing? No, but it was dependable. This neighborhood needs more places that aren't amazing, but are good and "will do". I don't need to experience synesthesia with ever bite - I just need something to eat.
