Reader report: Man throws trashcan into 7-Eleven's front window on Avenue A

Around 8:30 this morning, an EVG reader said that a man, who was believed to be homeless, threw a city trashcan into the front window of the 7-Eleven store on Avenue A and East 11th Street. His motive was unclear. Police were quickly on the scene, though it wasn't known if they had any suspects.

  2. Are they sure it was a trash can and not a Slurpee? It's hard to spot the difference.

  3. Must be their morning food delivery. I always wondered why 7-11 food tastes like trash...

  4. Was hoping this abomination would close like the others, but the construction crews destroying the Mary Help of Christians lot utilize the place heavily, as well as that crappy Domino's on 14th and A. Actually, all the construction guys eat that shitty pizza, so I guess, between clueless students and countless numbers of laborers, our chain stores will survive and flourish, despite there being any number of better places for them to spend their money.

  5. Where else can you get 6 week old hot dog for a quarter?

  6. What is the appeal of 7-11? The coffee is terrible and it does not seem cheaper than any place else. The "food" is inedible and non-nutritious. So what the hell? I suppose we are addicted to junk food, completely crappy food.

  7. Donnie,

The coffee at 7/11 is better than the bagel shop across the street. And cheaper. And if you really want to get into it... the service is better. I hate the chains but you have to give them props. Maybe we should ask why we pay more at a local business that is inferior to a chain.

Second this is the first time I have heard of someone using a trash can after leaving a 7-11.

Aren't they the ones who introduced the "revolutionary" new lid to keep your coffee hotter?

    1. Yes, I suppose the lowest common denominator is we are addicted to this crap and love it more than our health. But the stores are ugly! I would hate to live next to one.
