Noting

Several readers have asked if we knew when the lights were turned off on the Tompkins Square Park holiday tree. It has been at least a week since we've seen it lit up...

Three weeks ago, EVG reader Jose Garcia made an appeal to light the lights on year-round.

  1. Give it a rest with the holiday tree. What "holiday"? It's February 25th/almost March. It's a waste of electricity and it probably disturbs the animals including Christo and Dora.

The day after Thanksgivng through New Year's Day (the holidays) is more than enough time to see, marvel at, instagram, tweet etc. the lights.

  3. How do you have a Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony with carolers and hot chocolate if the tree is lit up all year round?
