  1. Please, people, spend a couple of bucks today to buy some flowers, and take a moment to put them in front of Engine 5 on 14th and 1st. I went by at 8.30 this morning with a big bunch of carnations, and mine were the first flowers there. The firemen standing outside were so grateful, and I could not help but think how sad it is that every year, less and less people go to the trouble.

  2. Yesterday I was angry to find a piece of smear campaign 'literature' against Rivera in my mailbox. I live at Village View and there was no postage etc on the piece of paper, so someone somehow got the mailboxes open after USPS left, or stuffed the papers into unopened mailboxes. The ad consisted of an inflammatory NY Post article & a Facebook screenshot, casting aspersions on Rivera and her husband. I don't know which one of the candidates thought this Trump-style campaigning is appropriate, but please know that it only made me reach out to my neighbors more to speak to them about the actual issues & hopefully them voting for Rivera, as I plan to. GTFO of our neighborhood with your Trump-style tactics. We're smarter than that.

  3. "Opening Ceremony" supports fur and shearling and is expensive. This is a class war and-well you know who they cater to around here. Thanks Spike Jonze. Take it to the High Line or save it for the Lowline.

  4. @3:56 People like this just can't help themselves. They always have to do things to bring attention to themselves. Just write a check.

  5. Idea to end crime in the East Village:

    - A beat cop on every avenue (1st through 4th, A through D, Bowery)

    - A beat cop on every street (1st through 14th)

    - A patrol car on every avenue (1st through 4th, A through D, Bowery)

That's 9 avenue beat cops, 14 street beat cops, and 18 patrol car cops for 41 cops total.
