There is a sinkhole in the works on Second Avenue between Seventh Street and St. Mark's Place (thanks to Chris Rowland for the photo!)... right in the bike lane (perhaps this is why the city still has't repainted the bike path after the milling and paving earlier last month?)
Be mindful if you are walking, riding, stomping or using the LinkNYC kiosk right there.

Hmmm...will the city or Midtown building developers swallow the village first?
ReplyDeleteSo that’s the safe place LinkNYC stores people’s data!
ReplyDeleteThere is also a big one on 2nd Street near the fire station that is getting worse every time the fire trucks drive over it...
ReplyDeletePerhaps the Universe has opened a portal to hell for Crusties who gather at that spot regularly.
ReplyDeleteSure wish they'd paint the bike lane back...that block is a traffic hazard
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on with the sidewalk on 2nd Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets close to Middle Collegiate ? The area around the manhole is elevated and it looks like it will explode? Does anybody know?
ReplyDeleteHaha ! The First Ave sinkhole happened soon after the road was
ReplyDeletepaved.
Actually the one on 1st ave was starting to materialize, then the road paving crew just filled the top in knowing full well it'll need repaving a few weeks later...
ReplyDeleteYOU CAN PUT YOUR WEED IN IT
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, they will fix it, paint it and then some contractor will show up to dig up the same area.
