Welcoming the new playground equipment to Tompkins Square Park
Less than 24 hours since workers opened up the renovated playgrounds in Tompkins Square Park... someone has already doodled on (defaced if you'd like) the equipment, as EVG regular Salim notes in these two photos...
Work started Oct. 1, 2018, on the southeast portion of the Park, which saw the closure of the entrances on Seventh Street at Avenue B and Eighth Street at Avenue B. The upgrades include the reconstruction of two playgrounds with new equipment and seating.

Lowered fences do not make good neighbors.
ReplyDeleteThis is why we can't have nice things.
ReplyDeleteAll I care about is when they're going to re-open the 8th street and Avenue B passage to the park; it's been excruciating waiting for them to finish their damn construction!
ReplyDeleteI also don't see what's so great about the new equipment—with or without graffiti. Is it solar-powered? Do the swings do all the work for the kids?
Our MAyor D'Assio has brought NYC right back to the '70's...Worst Mayor EVER
ReplyDeleteFriends of Josefph Sauer Park have a petition online here: http://chng.it/JZKgTLC64t to keep the 25+ year old 8 foot fence for this and a list of other reasons. Unlike Tompkins which is somewhat monitored by the police Sauer Park sits on a quiet block so the proposed 4 fence will make it open to vandals, drug users and convenient toilet. Please sign our petition and let the Parks Department know that parks should benefit commnutiies and make degrade playgrounds.
ReplyDeleteWTF is wrong with people? Do others have nothing better to do? Those whom vandalize need to get a life or face jail time.
ReplyDeleteThe Activist, or whoever did this, is clearly someone who is much too immature to be hanging out in a playground for young children. Maybe the Parks Department should reconsider installing playground equipment with so many clean looking surfaces that just scream ‘tag me” all over them.
ReplyDeleteThere should have been more lighting inside and
ReplyDeleteoutside on A - so many dark spots.
Low lifes with no life do this type of thing because, ....they are low lifes who have no life.
