[Updated] The playgrounds and ballparks are back open in Tompkins Square Park

Updated 6/20: Now closed until 6/21!

After two-plus months, the playgrounds in Tompkins Square Park are back open today ... ditto for the ballfields/TF in the northwest corner... (thanks to Steven for the photos!)

The basketball courts are also open, but the city isn't returning the rims just yet...

P.S.

The dog run is still closed...

  1. Got kicked off the handball court and they put the barricade back up. I guess that and the dog run are still closed

  2. Why is the dogpark still closed?

  3. They came around at about 6pm and locked up the playgrounds again. Said they "opened up too early" and would be opening up for real on Monday.

  4. This is ridiculous.
Dogs cannot transmit the virus. The leagues of people shoulder to shoulder in the park, without masks or gloves are fine to swan about but our poor pups aren't? They have been patiently waiting for desperately needed socialization (since the temp. Rose garden dog park party was killed) and yet everything else is open again? Screw it... I'm dropping my dog over the fence. Id encourage anyone else to join me.
    This is insane.

Dog runs are still closed because the mayor doesn't have a dog and all he cares about is his personal convenience.
