The space was home to Lui's Thai Food. As previously reported, chef-owner Pimnapa "Lek" Sunthatkolkarn had to retire her business after being hospitalized late in the summer.

ReplyDeleteJust curious as to where to find Thai food as good as Lui's in the hood now.
Lui's really was the best. Every other place is generic slop. I'd say Fish Cheeks is comparable in quality and taste but not in price. I would go with Thai Diner now - which is a bit further but worth it.
DeleteMakiinny, the former East Village Thai on 7th!
ReplyDeleteAny update on Chef Lui that you can share?
ReplyDelete@10:34 - Soothr is currently best Thai in the EV
ReplyDeleteWe have alot of Vietnamese places now. Sao Mai, Hanoi House, Madame Vo, Banh Mi Zion, Van Da, Love Mama, Xe May, Nickys, V Nam and this new joint.
ReplyDeleteCan we get a fish monger? That would fill a void...
Terra Thai on 6th St and Prim on 1st St are also excellent.
ReplyDeleteFor the folks asking for an update on Lek, she returned to Thailand to see her family and receive treatment for her illness. She was still in mandatory quarantine last time I heard from her. If I receive any future updates that she is okay with me sharing, I will let you know. She did say she is very grateful to everyone who reached out to wish her well and help with her fundraiser.
