Burrata Pizza has debuted at 221 Avenue A between 13th Street and 14th Street.
As previously reported, this pizzeria is taking the place of Muzzarella Pizza (1991-2020).
Hours: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. You can find a menu, which includes salads and paninis, at GrubHub.
... and New York Sal's Pizza II recently opened at 536 E. 14th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B. The deal signage on the sidewalk offers two slices and a soda for $6.
The hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Anyone try either pizzeria? EVG regular Edmund John Dunn liked his slice from Burrata.
I first noticed Burrata's storefront when it was closed but lit up at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday ... I'm vegan and don't really eat pizza but let me tell you, that neon in the early morning definitely made me go oooooh preeeetty. I love the nice clean fonts.
ReplyDeleteBurrata contrasts greatly with the former pizzeria tenant Muzzarella which served old school, classic, traditional oven baked NYC pizza favored by the majority.
ReplyDeleteAnglicized wood fired pizza is Burrata.
Each to their own I guess!
I tried burrata. Good to great crust, crisp bottom. Nice toppings, with a little more thought than the usual. Big guy running it seemed nice too.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you mean by "anglicized wood fired" pizza. Traditional neopolitan pizzas are wood fired. Slices are probably better from a gas oven.
ReplyDeleteI tried Burrata, I found the service quick and friendly, prices reasonable. The Pizza however I found lacking, the crust was a bit under cooked and the cheese wasn’t too fresh!! The sauce was very good!! I should also point out that it was late in the day Saturday and these guys are just starting out!! I’m going to give them a try again soon!! I truly think they’re going to be a good addition to the hood!!! I’m a professional Chef and I know that it takes a while to get a new place up and running!!!
ReplyDeletePfffft, until they are VEGAN, I will not be attending this joint!
ReplyDeleteMilk is Smurda! Cheese is the fetmentation of the Smurda.Meat products bad. Vegan good. Choise vegan or plan eternity down there, and it aint Santa youll be living with!
I'd rather live with the meat and cheese eaters in hell than vegans in heaven, but that's just me!
ReplyDeleteMuzzerella failed because the food was pretty bad and there are great options at a similar price less than a block away. I welcome these folks to the neighborhood, can't wait to give them a try!
Sal”s is pretty good, old school thin slice south brooklyn style (i grew up in Bay Ridge so this is my home slice). When reheated the crust is thin and crackley, sauce is and cheese are good. The entree items are pretty good too,
ReplyDelete@ anon 2:49, the sad part was that Muzzarella used to be pretty good, up until the time the neighborhood started really rapidly changing, I want to say circa 2006-08. I noticed that was around the time the hours became longer and the quality took a serious nosedive. Not just the pizza but their dishes like baked ziti suddenly became almost inedible. I'm actually surprised they lasted as long as they did with the decline in quality, probably because the late night bar crowd didn't care what the pizza tasted like per se, just that they were open at 3 am.
ReplyDeleteI tried Burrata twice, once it was okay, the second it was almost inedible and tasted like it'd been sitting out for at least a full day. I'll give it another try soon, I imagine (hope) they'll get more consistent over time.
