Look for more pizza on the high-profile corner of Second Avenue at 10th Street.
Signs arrived yesterday for Marinara Pizza ... (thanks to Steven for the photos!)
This will be the fifth outpost for the pizzeria, which has locations on the UES, UWS, Midtown East and Park Avenue South. (I've never had their pizza. Anyone?)
Two buzzy pizza joints have been at this address (160 Second Ave.) in recent years. Lions & Tigers & Squares — the Detroit-style pizzeria from the Artichoke team — debuted in October 2019 before closing during the pandemic last summer.
And before this... Nicoletta spent six-plus years in business here until the end of 2018.

Definitely the summer of Pizzas
ReplyDeleteAll they need to do is sell slices. That's the key.
ReplyDeleteDozens of pizza places already within a couple blocks, good luck with that
ReplyDeleteReally unattractive name for a pizza place, but maybe it's decent if they have several outposts. Not sure how it's going to dethrone classics like Baker's.
ReplyDelete@9 34 Surprise...that the name of the tomato sauce used for making pizzas
DeleteI recall this was once Cafe Centosette, which itself moved from 3rd Ave and recreated the entire restaurant, facade and all. As though it was teleported from 3 Ave to 2 Ave.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes - good luck to yet ANOTHER pizza joint...
I have a Cafe Centosette link at the end of the post…
DeleteMISS CAFE CENTOSETTE
ReplyDeleteI'm predicting success for these guys. Also, the interior is very well done. Nice job and good luck fella's.
ReplyDeleteI guess pizza ovens are hard to move!
ReplyDeleteThis corner was a bodega when I first moved to 10th Street in the late 1980s. No prices on anything, constant arguments with the cashier when prices would vary from one day to the next, depending on who was working that day!
ReplyDeleteI had pizza a few times from the location uptown on Lexington and it was ok. Middle of the road slice akin to Stromboli, East Village Pizza, 11B etc. Should do well here especially if it stays open late...
ReplyDeleteThat being said - we need more late night food options back open ASAP. Veselka closing at 11pm on a Saturday? Mamouns closing at 1030PM on a Friday? I understand the curfew laws are expiring & hours will increase with bars staying open later but Ive seen 24 hr diners open on the UES throughout the pandemic. Where do people in the neighborhood get food after 11 on a weekend now?
Lions & Tigers was awesome. All those regular slice shops are so boring.
