A tipster told us that this space will be a small distribution outpost (as opposed to merely an ad) for the Berlin-based company that "promises to let you order groceries and other 'every day' items for delivery in as little as 10 minutes," as TechCrunch noted. Gorillas debuted in Brooklyn in May.
No. 428 has been undergoing a gut renovation ... the previous retail tenants were victims of the L-train work here.

Thanks, Upper West Sider!
That block's sidewalk has to be cleaned up asap
ReplyDeleteThey want to fill our streets with masked delivery people - you won't be able to walk while they rush you a banana. The takeover of our public spaces - the gutter eaters, the Amazon distribution centers on the sidewalks - it doesn't end but the residents are last in line. They literally want to take the refrigerator out of your home and have a servant bring you what you need. The delivery people need to be licensed and insured.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anon @ 7:14 AM. The proliferation of motorized scooters and bicycles for delivery, no license plates, zipping along sidewalks, appears to be increasing by the day. It's a danger for the delivery people and pedestrians. If these vehicles have no license plates, I can't imagine that any of them carry insurance or drivers with licenses specifically for operating motorcycles.
ReplyDeleteJesus Christ it’s so easy to walk into a store here for most people, these companies are so annoying.
ReplyDeleteI truly hope this fails. The tenement buildings do look good from the outside, so glad they were not demolished.
ReplyDelete"Gorillas in the Mix" - a pun so bad it made my eyes Mist over with appreciation.
