David Flores has wrapped up work at the Bowery Mural Wall after several days.
According to a description of the work, the mosaic-style mural depicts "a motorcyclist driving into the street spreading florals out the back of the bike. The goal of the piece is to bring an element of fun to the daily lives of the community."

"spreading florals out the back of the bike." That's a good one. More like pollution, and noise, and more noise and more noise. And as my Grandma always said, "Empty barrels make the most noise."
ReplyDeletehywel dda, you got it right. Nice mural but "spreading florals out the back of a bike" is a misnomer if ever there was one. I thought once the Hell's Angels moved out the neighborhood would get quieter. Not a chance. Between the new style, wheelie, no muffler gangs roving the streets at all hours, the now rotting and often stinking restaurant shack, party noise that now dominates from Thursday to Sunday, it is nosier than ever. Florals! Give me a break. The guy obviously does not live on an avenue in the EV.
ReplyDeleteBased on these two comments, clearly imagination is a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteEmpty barrels do make moist noise. I agree! I do not hear flowers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely piece! It's great to see a huge splash of red on the Bowery like that!! Leave it to the EVGrumps to whine about a beautiful mural.....
ReplyDeleteGood news grumps -- Electric Motorcycles are coming soon. They're super quiet, don't pollute and are better for the environment all around. Also note that motorcycles cause far less pollution than 4-wheeled-vehicles :)
Conceptually, this has to be the most idiotic wall graphic I've ever seen. The nicest thing I can say about it is it's pointless, vacuous, and completely lacking any aesthetic value. I hope they tag the shit out of it.
ReplyDeleteI like it.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, with the real bike whizzing by the painted bike!
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, the mural isn't to my taste, but the nice thing about that wall is it's gonna be something else soon enough.
apparently EVGRIEVE has many astute and worldly art critics as commenters
ReplyDeleteI think I speak for most of us here when I say the best possible solution would be for them to sell the space to a billboard company and then have the Bill de Blasio for Congress campaign purchase a giant ad for our beloved former mayor's campaign to win the new NY-10 seat.
