Porta potties on the go in Tompkins Square Park

Photos by Steven

Also from this past week... a move that a surprising number of people mentioned: On Monday, workers relocated the porta potties in Tompkins Square Park after three-plus months.

The toilet triplex is now located near Ninth Street and Avenue A outside the ballfield/skate area. No word on why they were brought to this spot.

As previously reported, the restrooms in the Tompkins Square Park field house are now closed as part of an 18-month renovation underway.

  1. I'd rather explode in my pants than ever use one of those. No thanks.

  2. Too many abandoned needles and scents to recount! Though, I remember sitting far away, so far the scent surely couldn’t reach me. The scent had proven itself a formidable temporary park occupant.

  4. So what if I fell in one and have no regrets. Cest la vie or should I say, joie de vie?

  7. These ghastly items must come with a warning. This is a true story. I almost had a serious accident stemming from stomach pains last week as I passed these from a shopping trip at Trader Joes. I opened the door carefully, but after examining and sniffing the interior, I said NO, walked as quickly as possible to my flat, and let mother nature take over in my own glorious, and clean toilet.
