Stoned Gourmet Cannabis Pizza's Chris Barrett is opening a slice joint on 4th near B

Photos and reporting by Stacie Joy

Chris Barrett, the owner of the popular Stoned Gourmet Cannabis Pizza brand, is opening a new joint, Eighths — Pizza by the Slice, at 240 E. Fourth St., just west of Avenue B.

He's looking at a mid-December debut.

Barrett told me the menu will feature all cannabis-infused items but available in smaller quantities than at his Stoned Gourmet Cannabis Pizza places (like the one directly across Fourth Street). All slices will cost $10, with a recommended order of one to three, depending on your tolerance. The shop will also offer gelato, wings and garlic/ganja knots.
A few other details: There won't be any liquor available here, and patrons must be 21+ for the slices. Projected hours are Thursday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to midnight. (And no reservations are required — this is a walk-up operation.)

Barrett said he plans to open a few more of these slice shops; he already has outposts in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

No. 240 was most recently the pizzeria Johnny Favorite's.

  1. I'm from an Italian family, which is why I'm wondering WTF would eat pizza with cannabis in it? Only someone who's had their taste buds removed, IMO. (And don't bother to @ me, b/c I KNOW great pizza, and I also know that cannabis has no place as an ingredient in making pizza.)

  4. Thanks Stacie for the reporting, but I agree with @7.27, I'll stick with my plain cheese and Sicilian slice any day.

  5. Apologies if this is negative comment but is that legal?

  6. Eat whatever you want but if if something like weed doesn't add to the flavor profile what's the point? Call me old fashion but I'll stick to weed (edibles so I can control the exact dose), beer, pizza. When I say pizza I mean proper crust, correct amount of sauce, quality cheese. Toppings may vary. Two Boots is a bit stingy but damn that cajun pie is id right up there with the best of them.

  9. It's a new business that won't serve alcohol. Of course, people are still complaining. Best of luck to these guys.

  10. Much rather this than another smoke shop, but it's weird to me how much weed cultures is just, I dunno, embarrassing?

  11. Probably the young people 10-15 years from now will consider it boring and passe to think too much about.

  12. Pretty sure you're supposed to get high, and then eat pizza later when you have the munchies.

  13. From the old article the dosages here are pretty out there. 150 mg in just the appetizer?

  14. Only pizza shop where you have to be 21 or older to buy food.
