Sunday's parting shot

This was the second Sunday morning this month that included a vehicle turning right on the corner of Clinton and Houston ... and ending lodged atop the safety bollard.

Time to put the bollard on hazard pay?

The bollard is just doing its job. The driver, on the other hand, needs some serious driver training.

Behind the wheel means on the phone.

In California, they have "traffic school;" why can't they have that here?

Right ! Get off your phone and pay attention to where you are planning to go Geeze

Its a gray metal stick that's blends in with the surroundings. If you're in a tall SUV you can easily miss it. Should be painted bright orange. Argument can be made that City is responsible for the damage of the vehicle.

Starting to feel like anyone who wants to drive onto/off of the Williamsburg should under no circumstances be allowed to.

That stupid barrier is very poorly placed in that location. I just saw two large Academy tour buses coming down Clinton Street trying to make a right turn onto Houston Street and they first had to make a large left turn onto Houston Street into incoming traffic first before they had enough space so they could make the right turn to go east bound on Houston just to avoid hitting that barrier. I was crossing Houston Street while watching this as the first bus almost hit me. Very dangerous intersection that needs to be replanned out by DOT.

It really feels like they should shift the traffic off the bridge to Norfolk to give more clearance from the bridge and keep Clinton going south... Maybe helps with people feeling so eager to get out of traffic...?

This is on the tour bus operator. Tour buses can't just drive anywhere but generally have to follow truck routes. A bus driving up Clinton is the result of poor planning by the bus company or its driver. I cannot imagine a scenario where they had to use that narrow street to pick up or drop off passengers. https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/ferrybus/charterbus.shtml#routes

none of those buses should be coming down Clinton St. Same with the tractor trailers proliferating the neighborhood. Side streets weren't designed for vehicles of that size. The real turn from the bridge for traffic should be Allen St. Because this area stopped being a residential neighborhood for years, no one cared that cars used Clinton as a shortcut to the Houston and the FDR. The car apps are just as bad, forcing spillover traffic on every side street in the city.
I'm with the other commenters, i'd put money this person was on their phone and had no idea where they were going.

Clinton used to be southbound 15 or so years ago.
