Shi Miaodao Yunnan Rice Noodle opening in the former Mark Burger space on St. Mark's Place

Signage arrived Friday (H/T Steven) for Shi Miaodao Yunnan Rice Noodle, opening soon at 33 St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue...

The restaurant's website (not quite complete) is here ... it shows a few menu items, such as spicy trotter rice noodle and spicy pork intestine. Their hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

High rents caused Mark Burger to close here last fall after eight years in business.

EVG Etc.: Mark Burger cow status; menu update at Ray's; free pizza on Broadway

Workers are breaking down the now-closed Mark Burger at 33 St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.

Management said that higher rents and a changing St. Mark's Place were behind the closure.

And the Mark Burger cow is going to a new home. Derek Berg spotted it on the moo-ve Sunday... apparently the owner's family will take in the cow (and have it restored by the original artist) ...



The cow was designed by Rumiko Tsuda as part of the CowParade New York in 2000. This work was titled "Diversity of People."

Mark Burger won't be back around here

As we first reported on Wednesday, Mark Burger closed at 33 St. Mark's Place.

The sign on the front door here between Second Avenue and Third Avenue reads: "Gone for now but not for good. Thanks to the ones who still believe in Mark. Our sliders don't have an expiration date."

Bedford + Bowery later caught up with their GM, Brian Pollock, who said the "rent is too high, it’s too hard to keep up."

And:

He added that the neighborhood has changed considerably since the restaurant opened its doors eight years ago. "It’s a place where people used to go for dive bars, to get a hot dog at Papaya King," he said. "Now people go for cocktails and noodles. It’s not necessarily good or bad but, unfortunately, it’s not as suited for us."

He said that they may reopen in some form, but not in this neighborhood.

Mark Burger 'gone for now' on St. Mark's Place

The quick-serve slider-speciality restaurant with a rotating batch of craft beers at 33 St. Mark's Place is currently closed.

The sign writer says to follow along on one of the Mark's social-media properties (like Instagram) for updates. So far there isn't any mention of this closure on any of the Mark's accounts.

Mark Burger opened in the fall of 2009.
