Pink Olive is returning to the East Village

Image from 2023 via Instagram

In August 2023, Grace Kang closed Pink Olive, her gift and stationery boutique on Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue, after 16 years in business.

She continued operating her outposts in the West Village and Cold Spring, N.Y.

This week, Kang announced her return to the storefront at 439 E. Ninth St., where she first launched the business in 2007.

Here's the message via Instagram:
After closing our beloved East Village store 18 months ago, I'm thrilled to announce… we're heading back to the East Village! EV was where it all began 18 years ago, and it holds such a special place in my heart. It's where I grew professionally as an entrepreneur, connected with some of the loveliest people who remain dear friends to this day, and everything in between. Everything I've been through has brought me full circle, back to where it all began, and I couldn’t be more grateful. This 2.0 version will be prettier, sparklier, and better than ever! Stay tuned for updates as this special journey unfolds.
The eastern storefront at No. 439 had remained vacant after her departure.

This is the last weekend for the East Village outpost of Pink Olive

As noted on Aug. 9, Pink Olive is closing its gift and stationery boutique at 439 E. Ninth St. between Avenue A and First Avenue.

And this is the last weekend for the shop that opened here in 2007. According to an Instagram post via owner Grace Kang, everything will be 40% off this weekend with "special $2, $5 and $10 deals."

Her outposts in the West Village and up in Cold Spring will remain in business.

Pink Olive is closing its East Village outpost

After 16 years in the East Village, Pink Olive is closing its gift and stationery boutique on Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue.

Founder Grace Kang, who opened her first shop here in 2007, made the announcement via an email to its patrons (as well as on Instagram).
Over the years, we have weathered countless challenges together, and it is these shared experiences that make this decision even more difficult. However, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Various factors have led me to this decision, and while it fills me with sadness, I am also eager to embrace the new possibilities that lie ahead.
Our final days of operation will be filled with mixed emotions. Thank you to the East Village community and the amazing team that started it all. I'm so grateful to you!
The East Village shop will be open until Aug. 29, "or until we sell out." Her outposts in the West Village and up in Cold Spring will remain in business.
