When we found out about a mysterious early-morning transport on 2nd Avenue

A few weeks ago, this flatbed truck passed us while walking on Second Avenue near First Street.

We were curious about what (or who!) this was and where it was going early on a Saturday morning...
We figured we would never learn more about this mysterious cargo.

So, we noted it on Instagram ... and quickly found an answer: It is part of an exhibit opening on Jan. 10 with new work by American sculptor and performance artist Nick Cave titled "Amalgams and Graphts" at the Jack Shainman Gallery Tribeca (46 Lafayette St.).

Thank you, Instagram!

City removing the Trump-related 'Business As Usual' sculpture from 10th and B

A city worker this morning was attempting to remove the sculpture that arrived on 10th Street at Avenue B back on July 3.

EVG reader Alexa shared these photos...

The sculpture figure, titled "Business As Usual," is carrying a presidential briefcase...

This (coincidentally?) marks the second piece of Trump-related art that the city has removed in the past 24 hours from East Village streets/sidewalks.

This sculpture arrived overnight on 10th Street and Avenue B (where other similar works have been on display in recent years) ... this one is carrying a presidential briefcase...

Reader report: St. Mark's Place street sculpture hauled away

Over the weekend we heard from someone concerned that the latest sculpture (that arrived mid-September) on the northeast corner of First Avenue and St. Mark's Place was starting to lean, and possibly in danger of falling.

Now EV Grieve reader Allen Semanco reports the following: "Well, whoever was afraid of this sculpture hurting someone, worry no more. It was unceremoniously dragged into the back of an AQEL Sheet Metal (Harlem-based) pickup truck this afternoon around 1:30. New window gates, here we come."

[After 1:30 p.m.]

As you can see in the above photo, the recently arrived chair with the legs remains…
