On the topic of the incoming 7-Eleven on Avenue A and East 11th Street ... we haven't looked at its progress in ... three whole weeks! (The last update was here.) As you can see, workers have removed the shanty-like plywood roof...
Flashback!
We are also curious about what kind of 7-Eleven signage will represent the store here. Not entirely sure, but we did spot this on the DOB website, in the standard ALL-CAP DOBese...
ERECT NON-ILLUMINATED NON-ADVERTISING AWNING ON WALL. 12 SQ FT COPY TO READ STRIPE 7-ELEVEN STRIPE. NOT WITHIN VIEW OF ARTERIAL HIGHWAY OR PUBLIC PARK. NO CHANGE IN USE, EGRESS OR OCCUPANCY.
As for the end of renovations/construction, the sign on the plywood points to a July 31 end date...
In other 7-Eleven news, BoweryBoogie has an update on the franchise opening on Grand Street here.
¡¡Whoa!!
ReplyDelete¡¡Did you get a bulk discount for arrows?!!
¡¡I did for exclamation points!!
¡¡But some of them are upside down, I suspect for use in the southern hemisphere!!
@ DrGecko
ReplyDeleteI got an end-of-the-month deal on them!
The whole building will smell of hot dogs and self-serve mashed potatoes.
ReplyDeleteToo sad that 7-11 is now all over Manhattan, few here and there would be tolerable but they are really going to hurt the bodegas in the long run. I'm sure all of the east coast cities are having these same problems.
ReplyDeleteI personally think those "wreckin' arrows" had something to do with that plywood comin' down.
ReplyDeleteI'ts like you can almost hear......
.....BAMMMM!!!
GOOD JOB!
Have any of your readers who live in the building commented on how they feel about the 7-11? I am curious. I can't imagine anyone would be happy about it.

ReplyDeleteA resident or two who live in the building above here have chimed in on a few of the 7-11 posts... about the workers randomly shutting off water to the building without notice... noisy conditions, etc.
@Anon 2:39...hey, those hot dogs are a very effective, if drastic remedy for constipation. Throw in a 40 of 211 and those pipes will be humming like a new locomotive.
