Work is underway at 298 E. Second St. between Avenue C and Avenue D ...

And here's the first look at what's next, courtesy of the rendering on the plywood...

As previously reported, East Village-based Starleeng Equities is putting up an eight-story, seven-unit residential building. New York Yimby noted that the residential units should average 1,967 square feet apiece — most likely condos. There will be a duplex apartment on the ground and second floors, with full-floor apartments on the third through eighth floors.
According to public records, the building that housed the Houston Street Beer Distributors sold for a little more than $7 million in the fall of 2015.

I can't believe a beer distributor closed up shop considering the amount of beer consumed among the "pioneers". And that rendering looks like an air filter.
7 million dollars for that little ass space too. Obscene.
it seemed like such a happy little building as a beer distributor. Miss it walking and riding by. Sigh
8 stories is that the zoning height? There goes the neighborhood.
consuming beer at only happy hours and very pretentious bars, that's why, 5:09.
KUMA MOOSE
It looks like the building going up at the 14th St post office site, just skinnier. Not a good design trend.
Every time I see one of these ugly renderings a piece of my soul dies.

I know, was being sarcastic. 8:55.
You think with how great and grand the craft brew industry is and Cuomo's generous tax breaks to these new local breweries that a beer distributor would also get some revenue selling 12 packs of them to these pencil neck geeks and alcoholic jocks and slags.
But you know what else is a factor, 24/7 drug store chains have whole aisles selling beer. Hell there right in the death star building.
