Another large tree branch down in Tompkins Square Park
This tree (an elm?) splintered some time overnight in Tompkins Square Park... EVG regular Salim shared these photos this morning... this tree is on the south end of the Park along Seventh Street...
Several limbs have fallen in the Park in recent weeks — some due to storms... and some not.

I'm not saying it's because of this, because these trees are old...but every other time I walk by the park this year someone has crawled up into the tree and is sitting on the branches. Yeah it might look cool, but it definitely doesn't help the old trees to have tons of young adults crawling on them like a bunch of five year olds. You weigh more than you think and the trees didn't evolve to contain the weight of a human.
ReplyDeleteTrees are dropping like flies around the EV! I saw the city chopping up a tree earlier this week on the north side of 10th, between A and B, and then another on the south side of 10th between B and C.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't clear how they came down in the first place, but a definite loss for just one street.
Oooh, so sorry Mr. Human, enjoy your wood tables, paper, toilet paper etc because karma is a b*€£h!
ReplyDelete- said, the Tree.
This is both sad an terrifying. Glad no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteThis tree turns a magnificent yellow in fall.
