Reader reports: Stickett Inn closes ahead of a move to a new space

The storefront at 157 First Ave. between Ninth Street and 10th Street — home to Stickett Inn since 2021 — has been cleared out.

According to a reader, the cider bar closed on July 14 and plans to reopen around Sept. 1 in a new space on 10th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A, closer to Avenue A on the north side of the block. (Both retail spaces at 279 E. 10th St. appear to be under renovation.)
There has been no official announcement about the move. Stickett Inn's Instagram account is currently set to private, and Google and Yelp still list the First Avenue location as open.

Stickett Inn, an extension of the Barryville, N.Y.-based boutique inn and cidery founded by husbands Johnny Pizzolato and Roswell Hamrick, opened its East Village outpost in June 2021

The compact bar served Stickett Inn Cider, cocktails and New York-made spirits, including products from LGBTQ+ producers.

We'll update this post when more information about the new location becomes available.

Stickett Inn bringing its cider to 1st Avenue

The proprietors of the gay-friendly Stickett Inn and its eponymous cider are opening a tasting room here on First Avenue between Ninth Street and 10th Street.

Per its website, real-life husbands Johnny Pizzolato and Roswell Hamrick opened the Stickett Inn on Route 92 in Barryville, N.Y. (Sullivan County!) back in 2012.

As Out previously reported: "In 2017 the brand expanded with Stickett Inn Cider, the dry and mildly tart signature beverage of the property's Bang Bang Bar." (An aside: the Bang Bang Bar serves Pinks Tacos, whose flagship location is right around the corner from the new cider spot on 10th Street.)

The opening of the Stickett Inn Cider EV outpost looks imminent ... as there has been a lot of activity in the space of late.
